I enjoyed this story much than I was expecting to Being a straight male, I have to confess up front that MM romance is not my usual fayre However, a friend recommended this book and I m very glad I read it.The story takes place in an alternative future where supernatural beings such as werewolves and vampires have come out of the shadows and now hold the upper hand, with humans forced to live under their rule.Recoil tells the story of Noah a captured human, and Malkhaz a vampire Each being has a long held hatred and distrust of the other, but over the course of a couple of days we see their characters becoming less abrasive.I thought the chemistry between the characters was very well written, from their heated early exchanges all the way to the end The author does an excellent job of letting the reader see each of the character s inner turmoil, and considering I m not really into the MM genre, I found the sex scenes very sensual and well executed. If I had to be objective about the book, my only nit would be that I found there was a little too much introspection for my personal tastes. The world in which they live is only revealed in small fragments of introspection by each character, and I think the author does a very good job of dropping enough subtle hints to make readers want to learn about her world. This will not be the only Ripples in the Status Quo story that I read.

Noah is a human, bloody and beaten and brought to Khaz to be broken ready for sale. What starts is a tempestuous time for both Noah and Khaz as they grapple with the way the status quo exists and how both are affected by it.I like both MCs equally as they both are fighting to exist whilst maintaining what s left of their sanity.

Humans have been defeated by the vamps, weres and witches and treated as animals and slaves Khaz is a four hundred year old vampire who is asked by a werewolf to brake Noah one of the rebels so he can be sold into slavery, but Khaz is quite soft hearted and struggles with this job ending up trying to befriend Noah

Have to say I m a bit in love with Khaz, he s a vamp but he is unlike most He sees what harm they ve caused since the takeover and it does not sit well He is forced to sell his self just to keep a roof over his head and when he s offered the chance to catch up on back rent without having to be on his back he takes it Oh what a can of worms that leads to Noah is raised with hatred for those who took everything away from humanity and he fights with the rebellion to free humans Khaz has to break Noah but when a man is raised with pain there s only one route for Khaz to take, it leads to what neither of them ever expected This series just gets better

This is the third book in the Ripples series and although it s not my fav couple I did enjoy Khaz and NoahNoah really doesn t like vampires but he s dumped on Khaz to break him ready to be sold at auction but is that going to happen..I loved how Khaz tried to break him with kindness and such but I don t think things are gonna go to plan. The ending is definitely a cliffhanger but glad I have the next one ready..Am enjoying these books immensely and don t want them to end x

Speechless is what I am, Ive just finished reading this Fantastic book Sweet human Noah has suffered in his life but he s tough cookie Being caught for helping the resistance and killing 3 Weres doesn t help his focus When he s handed over by a trader to be broken by a vampire he still resists and continues his fight Khaz has a soft spot for Noah but hes got a play by the rules Can they win You wont be expecting the ending of this, it totally floored me. Highly recommended and includes steamy hot sex scenes re appearance of Aston and Reese included too.

Let me say upfront that the author can tell a good story and is a competent writer I keep going back and trying R Phoenix for these reasons Unfortunately, I m always a little disappointed at the endings It s because I like a HEA ending and R Phoenix doesn t do those so I m always left feeling out of sorts So, if you like darker reads that don t deliver a HEA although also don t end up in total despair you might really like this book and the others in the series I don t want to discourage anyone from trying them because I do think the author is talented and deserves a nice following I want to give the author props for writing and story telling Ultimately, the books just aren t for me but they might be for you.

I loved this installment in R Phoenix s Ripples in the Status Quo series Khaz is a vampire who has shut himself off from the rest of the world, even though he is a supe, he has not really experienced what some would call the benefits of being a supe He lost his sire and has been drifting from century to century, not really living, that is until he is asked to break a human rebel named Noah Khaz wasn t prepared for the feelings that Noah stirs inside of him, it s as if Noah makes Khaz s heart beat again With the lingering knowledge that with or without his help in taming Noah, he will be sold and than likely become a shell of the human he once was, Noah makes a hard decision that hopefully he won t regret.

So much packed into a tiny amount of pages Honestly, I went in unsure if I would enjoy this kind of book Vampires, werewolves etc I was hooked by the first page The characters were beautiful together, they were dimensional and I loved them both To be able to make a reader fall in love with characters in such a small piece of work is remarkable The ending made me want to scream I hate cliffhangers, I would be extremely disgruntled if I didn t already have the next book I must find out what happens

R Phoenix keeps getting better and better This book kept me on the edge of my seat The ending just about killed me I hate cliffhangers and this one is brutal Noah the human slave captured as part of the rebellion, unable to be broken by the toughest slavery going Then you have Khaz the Vampire who needs money forced to take in this stubborn human to break him You have to read the story to find out who gets broken and how This story is a must read

  11. santana santana says:

This book of course had a cliffhanger. ahh now I need the next The connection between these two is intense even with the whole touch aspect playing a part in this All right have to read the next one.

Extremely well written..I wasn t expecting to feel such turmoil following khaz s inner emotional struggle in regards to Noah. Ms Phoenix has once again toed the very line between erotica and emotion..

Really disliked the ending But like the rest Wish these books would have characters to broaden out the story a bit.
