This a clever, well made audio adaption of the 1971 folk horror film with strong performances from the cast which The League of Gentlemen s Mark Gatiss and Reece Shearsmith The League Of Gentlemen , Ralph Ineson The VVitch and Alice Lowe Sightseers , all of whom give this drama a solid horror pedigree It s a chilling listen, too at times unnerving and sometimes downright horrific In fact, I d say it s creepier than the film sometimes what you imagine can be a lot frightening than what you see, and this audio version is very much aware of that.

This was fantastic, without doubt the best audio drama I ve listened to and a ridiculous amount of fun I didn t know until after I d finished listening that this was originally a film from the 70s, and it feels like one in a good way It s got a folksy yet Hammer Horror style to it, making it endearingly enjoyable Without such a strong cast it might not have been so good but every single person involved did a fantastic job.I decided to check this out as Mark Gatiss and Reece Shearsmith were involved and they did a brilliant job but the rest of the cast such as Alice Lowe, John Heffernan, Ralph Ineson and Philip Hill Pearson also made this a joy to listen to.The story could have come across as silly but Mark Morris adapted this really well and a strong cast brought everything together to create an old school horror tale that I ll undoubtedly return to again in the future.
