This is the third book in the Deverill Chronicles, and after loving books one and two, I couldn t wait to be swept away back to Ballinakelly, Ireland, for book three. It s now 1939 and this captivating, historical drama, centered around Castle Deverill and the lives of Kitty, Bridie, Celia and co continues We say a sad farewell to some favourite characters but also welcome a new generation who have to deal with the devastating consequences of their elders secrets and lies, both past and present The outbreak of war brings a distraction from torment for some but tragedy for others.A tale of forbidden love, brutal murders, bitterness and regret, but also of forgiveness, this book ticked all the boxes for me It took me to another time and place, far away from real life, where it made me gasp, smile and with a wipe of my eye, left me heaving a sigh of total contentment.Although the final book in this trilogy, it can be read alone, but honestly, you really should read all three and you ll enjoy a truly wonderful fictional journey.

I loved this book In fact I love all of Santa Montefiore books and can never put them down One gets so involved in the stories and I can never wait to find out how things are going to work out for all the characters in it It is such a lovely story of love, passion, intrigue and betrayal and the descriptions of the Irish countryside are absolutely delightful It is making me want to visit Ireland again on the strength of this book where I can just sit and imagine where all the intrigues of this story are played out The story of the Deverills is fascinating and is so enjoyable to read.

I have never read a book with so many twists and turns Agonisingly frustrating, but ensuring you don t want to stop reading as you wait to see if the characters will discover the truth about each other A tremendously well written book that has at its heart a message of forgiveness that is one I will treasure for a long time Thank you This book was a fitting read for a turning point in my life and has left me filled with positivity and enthusiasm for what lies ahead.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, eagerly awaited as it is the last part of the trilogy I definitely recommend that the three books are read in order, starting with Songs of Love and War, as the story evolves through the generations I was slightly disappointed that we didn t hear about Celia s adventures in South Africa, but perhaps that is another story in the making

Wow what a journey Santa Montefiore has such a brilliant way of telling a story In all 3 books of the Deverills, I was taken on an amazing, and sometimes exhausting, journey I felt every emotion, every up, every bump Like being on a rollercoaster And so many surprises too Just when you think you know what happens next Nope it didn t, something unexpected instead So much so I couldn t put the books down, and had to read all 3 Now I ll have to buy all her other books I m hooked And you will be too And you wont be disappointed.

The three Deverill books were a joy I read Parts I and II or less in one hit, then there was a gap before publication of Part III and, to my regret, I didn t actually acquire the final part until last weekend It took me a moment or two to settle back into the Deverill world, picking up the strands of the story and characters But then it all fell into place again And I loved it as much as Parts I and II Beautifully written and not over written and with a real feel for the characters and the place around which the story is set Highly recommended, with the caveat that one should read Parts I, II and III without a great gap in between I finished The Last Secret of the Deverills on Sunday, having started it on Saturday, and felt bereft that the final page was, literally, the last of the Deverills.

I found that I kept reading to find out how the saga ends I did read the other two books I did like the issues faced by Ireland I also felt that this book and the other two were geared to adolescents I am not sure I would seek another book by this author for now.
