Such an interesting read, I am Glued to the pages and will be buying part 2 as soon as I finish this I have been a fan of Roald Dahl all my life, I Love his stories and feel I shall be revisiting many of my old favourites Very soon indeed, as well as exploring some that I haven t yet read. What a Wonderful autobiography of a Wonderful man, with such a Loving family background and so intrigued by the world around him, coupled by some extracts of letters written to his Mother throughout his life make for a compelling read Learning of his lust to travel and experience new countries from such a young age, alongside his photography skills to capture what he finds along the way are truly inspirational.I would highly recommend this book to everyone, fan of his or not, there will be something in here to capture your interest and imagination. The remarkable story of Roald Dahl s early years at school and with his family Boy Boy is this a book and a half Well what can I say It says what it isBoy Well chosen design to sell that says Boy Blue Please do not mix this up with Girl though girls will also enjoy this novella, please do not get me wrong Many a time have I been in THAT sweetshop I will stop there before I set anyone out to any mischief and God forbid anyone misses a game of a wellknowngame floss to go out and have fun. Well written of course, interesting, funny and sometimes quite horrific Some of the men that ran the private schools Dahl attended, by today s standards they would have all be arrested and sent down for life Glad times have changed.I love Dahl and this tale of his childhood reminds me of why I can also see where he got his ideas from Cadbury sending chocolate testing boxes, to his school.. I loved this book when I read it when I was younger, so thought I d re read it It has lost none of its magic A lovely read about the early life of Roald Dahl The illustrations are brilliant too. I read this book chapter by chapter to my daughter as a bed time story each night When I finished Dahl s probable first autobiography my own interpretation she asked if I could read it again A beautiful story of Dahl s early years.Just a footnote, In Scandinavia Roald is pronounced Roo ald. I bought this for my husband as a prequel to reading Going Solo He is not a keen reader but is getting through the chapters quickly and enjoys the clear printing and easy style even when the content is emotional. I bought this for my 7 year old as she loves cds and has lots of Roald Dahl This is my personal favourite and the 7 year old was transfixed She has been quiet as a mouse two nights in a row so far, absorbed in this audio cd I can t wait until she s finished so I can pinch it for the car After reading so many books of Dahl for children, no doubt that one would love to read the making of great story teller through his childhood The books is account of Roald Dahl s memoirs of childhood and teenage, right from kindergarten till age of 20 It traverses his life in England and Norway his origin His days at boarding school are filled with fun and mischievousness One can find the comic sense and naughty humor that got built into him which is evident in his later stories And Quentin Blake s illustrations are as wonderful as those are in all Dahl s books. This hardback edition by Jonathan Cape ISBN 978 0857550460 is small in height and very cute for young hands.Recommended for age group 10.
